of <h1>India Requires Registration for Cotton Yarn Exports; Customs Clearance Only with DGFT Approval per Notification 38/2009-2014</h1> The Government of India mandates the compulsory registration of cotton yarn export contracts. According to Notification No. 38/2009-2014, effective April 9, 2010, exporters must register contracts with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade before shipment. Customs will clear consignments only after verifying this registration. The policy applies to cotton yarn containing 85% or more cotton by weight, not put up for retail sale, classified under tariff item code 5205. The notification aims to regulate and monitor cotton yarn exports and has undergone several amendments to refine export restrictions and policies.
