India Amends Foreign Trade Policy: ICB Not Mandatory for Mega Power Projects with Tariff-Based Bidding; Deemed Export Benefits Expanded
The Government of India has amended Chapter 8 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2009-2014 concerning mega power projects. The amendment specifies that for mega power projects, the requirement for International Competitive Bidding (ICB) is not mandatory if the power has been secured through tariff-based competitive bidding. Additionally, the supply of goods for the expansion of existing mega power projects, as specified in a particular customs notification, will qualify for deemed export benefits under certain conditions. This amendment is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
