of <h1>Customs Act Amendment: New 5% Import Duty on Set-Top Boxes, Effective January 1, 2004, Serial No. 316C Added.</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has amended the customs notification No. 21/2002 to modify import duties on set-top boxes. Effective from January 1, 2004, the amendment introduces a new entry, serial No. 316C, in the customs tariff table for Integrated Receiver Decoders, also known as set-top boxes, which will now have a 5% duty rate with no additional charges. Previous entries under serial No. 316A have been omitted. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest.
