For instance, general goods under Chapter 28 are subject to a 70% ad valorem duty, while specific items like silicon and mercury have a 55% ad valorem rate. Sodium hydroxide in various forms is taxed at Rs. 3,500 per tonne. Other chemicals have varying ad valorem rates.
