(N.T.) dated April 26, 1990. Under the Customs Act, 1962, the Central Government designates officers to various roles: Principal Commissioner or Commissioner of Customs, Additional or Joint Commissioners, and Deputy or Assistant Commissioners. These appointments apply across India, with specific roles assigned to officers at headquarters and zonal/regional units. The changes are effective from the date specified in the Official Gazette. The notification has been further amended by Notification No. 82/2014-Customs (N.T.) effective October 15, 2014.
