Customs Notification Amends Duty Entitlement Pass Book Scheme: Restrictions on Input Transfers for Factory Production Only
Notification No. 66/97-Cus., dated September 3, 1997, issued by the Central Government under the Customs Act, 1962, amends a previous notification (No. 34/97-Cus., dated April 7, 1997). The amendment specifies that exemptions for imports against provisional credits under the Duty Entitlement Pass Book scheme are allowed only for inputs needed for producing goods in the factory of the Pass Book holder or a supporting manufacturer. These inputs must not be transferred, loaned, sold, or disposed of in any manner, even after export credits have been earned to offset provisional credits.
