India Revises Foreign Exchange Rates for Customs & Stamp Duty Under Notification No. 31/2001-Customs (N.T.)
The Central Government of India issued Notification No. 31/2001-Customs (N.T.) on June 26, 2001, under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and the Customs Act, 1962. This notification supersedes the previous Notification No. 24/2001-NT-Customs dated May 28, 2001. It prescribes the exchange rates for foreign currencies against the Indian Rupee for calculating stamp duty and customs purposes, effective from July 1, 2001. The rates are detailed in two schedules: Schedule I lists the exchange rates for one unit of various currencies, while Schedule II provides rates for 100 units of specific currencies.
