<h1>Central Board Notification Empowers Vigilance Officers as Central Excise Officers with Nationwide Authority Under Central Excise Act 1944</h1> Notification No. 4/98-C.E. (N.T.), dated February 27, 1998, issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, designates officers from the Directorate General of Vigilance, Customs, and Central Excise as Central Excise Officers. This notification, under the Central Excise Act, 1944, and Central Excise Rules, 1944, supersedes the previous notification No. 4/93-Central Excise (N.T.). It grants the Director General, Additional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioner (Vigilance) the powers equivalent to Chief Commissioner, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioner, respectively, to be exercised across India.
