of <h1>Customs Duty on Metallurgical Coke Set at 5% for Specific Manufacturers Under Amended Notification No. 21/2002-Customs</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 21/2002-Customs, originally issued on March 1, 2002, concerning the import of metallurgical coke. The amendment, effective January 3, 2003, replaces the previous entry for S. No. 71 in the notification's table. The revised entry specifies that metallurgical coke, when imported by manufacturers of pig iron or steel using blast furnace or COREX technology, or by manufacturers of ferro alloys, will be subject to a 5% customs duty. This amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest under the Customs Act, 1962.
