New Amendment to Customs Act: Exempts One-Time Sealed Containers from Resealing at Gateway Ports Under Regulation 6
This notification amends the Goods Imported (Conditions of Transhipment) Regulations, 1995, under the Customs Act, 1962. It introduces a new provision to regulation 6, stating that containers sealed with a one-time bottle seal by shipping lines or their agents, with Customs informed of the seal's serial number, are exempt from being resealed by Customs at the gateway port before being dispatched to inland container depots (ICDs), container freight stations (CFS), or ports via rail, motor vehicle, or vessels. These amendments are effective upon publication in the Official Gazette.
