New Exchange Rates for Stamp Duty and Imports Under Indian Stamp Act and Customs Act Section 14 Announced
This notification, effective from May 1, 2000, sets the exchange rates for various foreign currencies against the Indian Rupee for calculating stamp duty under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, and for purposes related to imported goods under Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962. The rates are specified for currencies such as the US Dollar, Euro, and others in two schedules. Schedule I lists the rate of exchange for one unit of each foreign currency, while Schedule II provides rates for 100 units of certain currencies. This supersedes the previous notification No. 22/2000-NT-Customs.
