of <h1>India Imposes Provisional Anti-Dumping Duty on Chinese Lead Acid Batteries; Potential Retrospective Liability for Importers</h1> The Central Government of India has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on lead acid batteries imported from certain companies in China, following findings that these products were sold below normal value, causing injury to the Indian industry. The provisional assessment applies to imports from September 1, 2002, to February 28, 2003, pending a review. If the review confirms the need for anti-dumping duties, importers will be liable for these duties retrospectively. The duty will be calculated in Indian currency, with the exchange rate determined at the time of the bill of entry presentation.
