Customs Notification Amended: 10% Duty Exemption on Naphtha for Specific Power Plants, New Entry 69A Added
The Central Government amended the Customs notification No. 17/2001 to include a new exemption for the import of naphtha by specific power plants, effective January 30, 2002. A new entry, 69A, was added to the tariff table, allowing a 10% duty exemption on naphtha imports for listed power plants. A condition, 6A, requires importers to provide a certificate confirming that the LNG terminal supplying the power project is not yet commissioned. The amendment lists eligible power plants across various Indian states, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala.
