of <h1>Govt Amends Service Tax Notification: Expands Scope to Include Installations in India's EEZ and Continental Shelf</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 1/2002 - Service Tax, originally issued on March 1, 2002, concerning the Exclusive Economic Zone of India. As per Notification No. 21/2009, dated July 7, 2009, the amendments replace the phrase 'designated areas in the Continental Shelf' with 'installations, structures and vessels in the continental shelf of India and the exclusive economic zone of India.' This change is made under the authority granted by specific clauses of the Territorial Waters, Continental Shelf, Exclusive Economic Zone and Other Maritime Zones Act, 1976.
