of <h1>India Imposes Provisional Safeguard Duty on Chinese Aluminium Imports to Protect Domestic Market</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, imposed a provisional safeguard duty on imports of Aluminium Flat Rolled Products and Aluminium Foil from China. This decision followed findings by the Director General (Safeguard) indicating that increased imports were disrupting the domestic market. The safeguard duty rates for Aluminium Flat Rolled Products are 14% ad valorem from March 23, 2009, to March 22, 2010, and 12% from March 23, 2010, to March 22, 2011. For Aluminium Foil, the rates are 30% and 25% for the same periods, respectively. Certain product exclusions apply. The duty is effective from March 23, 2009.
