India exempts mobile handset parts from Special Additional Duty; new entry S.No. 35A added to notification.
The Central Government of India has amended Notification No. 19/2001-Customs, dated March 1, 2001, to exempt parts, components, and accessories of mobile handsets, including cellular phones, from Special Additional Duty (SAD). This amendment, effective from November 13, 2001, adds a new entry, S.No. 35A, to the notification's table. The goods specified under S.No. 291A of the Table in Notification No. 17/2001-Customs, dated March 1, 2001, are exempt from SAD, subject to conditions outlined in the related annexure. This decision is made in the public interest under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975.
