Customs Act 1962 Amendments Ease Jewellery Exports for EOUs and EPZs; New Rules for Exhibitions and Airport Sales
The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has amended various notifications to facilitate the export of jewellery by Export Oriented Units (EOU) and Export Processing Zones (EPZ) for exhibitions abroad. These amendments allow jewellery to be exported with the Development Commissioner's approval, provided unsold items are re-imported within 60 days post-exhibition. Additionally, jewellery manufactured by these units can be supplied to retail outlets at specified international airports for sale to departing tourists, in line with the Export and Import Policy and the Handbook of Procedures. Certain entries in annexures of previous notifications have been omitted.
