Central Board's 2009 Scheme Simplifies Service Tax Returns with Certified Preparers; Training Open for Eligible Applicants Under 35
The Service Tax Return Preparer Scheme, 2009, established by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, aims to facilitate the preparation and submission of service tax returns by assessees through certified Service Tax Return Preparers (STRPs). Eligible individuals, including those with a senior secondary education and under 35 years of age, can apply for training and certification as STRPs. The Partner Organisation, selected by the Board, manages enrollment, training, and certification. STRPs must prepare returns diligently, maintain records, and adhere to guidelines. Assessees pay a mutually agreed fee for services. The Resource Centre oversees the scheme's administration, including monitoring STRPs' performance and maintaining records.
