of <h1>Central Government uses Section 11 to set concessional CGST rates (mostly 2.5%, some 1.5%) for handicrafts</h1> The Central Government, exercising power under section 11 of the CGST Act, amends Notification No. 21/2018 by substituting its goods table to prescribe concessional Central GST rates for specified handcrafted and artisanal goods-predominantly 2.5% (with select items at 1.5%)-covering candles, bags, carved wood, handmade paper, textiles, stone and ceramic wares, metal and brass artware, lamps, furniture of bamboo/rattan, toys, paintings, sculptures and related handicrafts. The amendment, issued on 17 September 2025, takes effect from 22 September 2025.
