of <h1>Central government notifies new IGST rates for inter-state goods (Schedules I-VII) effective 22 September 2025</h1> The central government, on council recommendation, supersedes the 2017 IGST rate notification and notifies new integrated tax rates applicable to inter-state supplies of goods effective 22 September 2025: 5%, 18%, 40%, 3%, 0.25%, 1.5% and 28% assigned to Schedule I-VII respectively. Each Schedule lists tariff chapters/heading items specifying covered goods; Schedule I includes many food, agricultural, medical and essential items; other Schedules cover luxury, precious metals, tobacco, chemicals, machinery and specified vehicles, among others. Rules for tariff interpretation and statutory definitions in GST Acts apply.
