<h1>RBI Amends 2019 Regulations to Allow Non-Residents to Buy Sovereign Green Bonds at IFSC in India.</h1> The Foreign Exchange Management (Debt Instruments) (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2024, issued by the Reserve Bank of India, amends the 2019 regulations to allow persons residing outside India to purchase Sovereign Green Bonds in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in India. These bonds can be bought using funds from inward remittances or foreign currency accounts, as per RBI and IFSC Authority regulations. The proceeds from the sale or maturity of these bonds, after applicable taxes, can be remitted outside India. These amendments come into effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
