of <h1>Customs Duty Rates on Smart Wearables Amended: New Rates Include Smart Rings, Bands, and Watches Effective March 2024.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 57/2017-Customs, dated June 30, 2017, to modify the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) rates on certain smart wearable devices. The amendment, effective through Notification No. 17/2024-Customs dated March 14, 2024, expands the category of devices to include smart rings, shoulder bands, neck bands, and ankle bands, in addition to smart watches. This change is made under the powers conferred by the Customs Act, 1962, and is deemed necessary in the public interest.
