of <h1>India Bans Export of High-Resolution Maps and Geospatial Data to Protect National Security from September 2022.</h1> The notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, prohibits the export of maps and geospatial data depicting any part of India with spatial accuracy finer than specified thresholds. This is to maintain national security. The guidelines, effective from September 23, 2022, restrict the export of sensitive geospatial data attributes related to various strategic and military installations, nuclear sites, and other critical infrastructure. These installations must not be labeled or have attributes attached in geospatial data or maps. The restrictions aim to prevent unauthorized dissemination of sensitive information related to national security.
