of <h1>New Customs Officers Appointed for Faceless Assessment Under Customs Act, 1962, per Notification No. 27/2022.</h1> The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs issued Notification No. 27/2022 on March 31, 2022, appointing specific customs officers as proper officers for faceless assessment under the Customs Act, 1962. This supersedes the previous Notification No. 50/2020. The appointed officers include Appraisers, Superintendents of Customs (Preventive), and Superintendents of Central Excise posted at customs stations, as well as Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Customs. They are assigned functions related to bills of entry presented electronically under sections 46 or 68 of the Customs Act. The notification is effective upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
