New Import Policy: Random LED Sampling for Safety Compliance in ITC (HS) Chapters 85 & 94 Effective September 2020.
The Central Government has introduced a new policy condition in Chapters 85 and 94 of the ITC (HS), 2017, Schedule-I (Import Policy), effective from September 17, 2020. This condition mandates random sampling of LED products and control gears for LED modules, as specified under the 'Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012.' Samples will be tested in BIS recognized labs for compliance with safety standards. Customs clearance will only be granted to consignments that meet these standards; non-compliant samples will result in the consignment being returned or destroyed at the importer's expense.
