<h1>Meghalaya Amends Corporate Insolvency Rules; New Registration Requirements for Debtors u/ss 37 & 39 of GST Act.</h1> The Government of Meghalaya has amended the special procedure for corporate debtors under the corporate insolvency resolution process as per the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. The amendment specifies that corporate debtors who have filed statements under section 37 and returns under section 39 of the Meghalaya Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, before the appointment of an Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP) or Resolution Professional (RP), are excluded from a certain class. Additionally, from the IRP/RP appointment date, these debtors must register as distinct entities in each state or union territory where previously registered, within thirty days or by June 30, 2020, whichever is later.
