Income-tax (18th Amendment) Rules, 2020: New Filing Requirements for Investment Funds with Forms 64C & 64D by June Deadlines.
The Income-tax (18th Amendment) Rules, 2020, effective from July 28, 2020, amends the Income-tax Rules, 1962. Rule 12CB is replaced to mandate that investment funds must furnish income statements to unit holders and tax authorities. By June 30 of the following financial year, investment funds must provide unit holders with Form No. 64C, and by June 15, they must submit Form No. 64D to the relevant tax commissioner. The Principal Director General of Income-tax (Systems) will oversee the procedures for filing these forms and ensure secure handling of the data. The amendment also updates Form No. 64C and 64D in Appendix-II.
