India Updates PPE Export Policy: Medical Coveralls Now 'Restricted' with 50 Lakh Monthly Quota, Others Still Prohibited.
The Government of India has amended its export policy for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in response to COVID-19. Previously prohibited, the export of PPE medical coveralls is now classified as 'restricted,' with a monthly export quota of 50 lakh units. This change applies to specific HS codes and any other applicable codes. However, other items within PPE kits remain prohibited from export, whether as individual items or part of kits, and are not subject to the monthly quota. The amendment modifies Notification No. 14 dated 22.06.2020, with further criteria for export licenses to be detailed in a Trade Notice.
