The Central Government has extended the term of the current Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an additional six months beyond February 29, 2020, or until further orders. This decision is made under the authority granted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, and the related rules governing the terms and conditions of service for the Chairman and Members of SEBI. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Finance's Department of Economic Affairs on February 28, 2020.
