of <h1>Cost Inflation Index for FY 2019-20 Set at 289; Effective April 1, 2020, for AY 2020-21 Onwards.</h1> The Central Board of Direct Taxes has issued Notification No. 63/2019, amending a previous notification from June 13, 2018. This amendment introduces the Cost Inflation Index for the financial year 2019-20, setting it at 289. The changes will take effect from April 1, 2020, and will apply to the Assessment Year 2020-2021 and subsequent years. This adjustment is made under the authority granted by the Income-tax Act, 1961, specifically under clause (v) of the Explanation to section 48.
