of <h1>Government Reconstitutes National Committee for Social and Economic Welfare u/s 35AC, Appoints New Members for Three Years.</h1> The Central Government, exercising its authority under Section 35AC of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and Rule 11G of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, reconstituted the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare. The previous committee's term expired on January 1, 2001. Effective May 21, 2001, new appointments were made for a three-year term. The appointed members include a former Chief Justice, a Supreme Court advocate, a professor, a retired chairman of the CBDT, a doctor, a chartered accountant, and other distinguished professionals from various fields.
