Karnataka Raises Composition Scheme Turnover Limit to Rs. 1.5 Crore; Manufacturers of Ice Cream, Pan Masala, Tobacco Excluded.
The Government of Karnataka, exercising its authority under the Karnataka Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, has issued a notification to supersede the previous notification dated 28 June 2017. Effective from 1 April 2019, this notification extends the threshold limit for availing the Composition Scheme under Section 10 of the KGST Act, 2017, to an aggregate turnover of 1.5 crore rupees. However, manufacturers of specified goods such as ice cream, pan masala, and tobacco products are excluded from this scheme. This change follows recommendations from the Council and aims to simplify tax compliance for eligible businesses.
