of <h1>India Limits Pigeon Peas Imports to 2 Lakh Metric Tons Annually Under Chapter 7 Policy; Exemptions Apply for Agreements.</h1> The Central Government has announced the Import Policy for items under Chapter 7 of the Indian Trade Classification (Harmonized System), 2017, effective from April 1, 2019. The policy, issued under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, specifies that the import of Pigeon Peas (Cajanus Cajan)/Toor Dal is restricted to an annual quota of 2 lakh metric tons. This restriction does not apply to imports under government commitments in bilateral or regional agreements. The notification updates previous policies and procedures outlined by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
