SEBI Extends Deadline to June 30, 2005, for Intermediaries Abroad to Obtain Unique ID Numbers under Regulation 5A.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has extended the deadline for certain specified intermediaries and their related persons, such as promoters or directors residing outside India, to obtain unique identification numbers. Originally required by March 31, 2004, and later extended to June 30, 2004, or December 31, 2004, the new deadline is now set for June 30, 2005. This extension is granted to alleviate undue hardship caused by strict compliance with the original time limits. The decision is made under the authority of sub-regulation (1) of Regulation 5A of the SEBI (Central Database of Market Participants) Regulations, 2003.
