Customs Tariff Act Amendment: New Conditions for Importing Edible Vegetable Oil for Manufacturing and Refining Purposes
This notification amends Notification No. 18/2000-Cus dated March 1, 2000, under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The amendment involves changes to the table against serial No. 3, specifying conditions for importing vegetable oil of edible grade for manufacturing purposes. It includes vegetable oils (excluding coconut and palm oil) for producing 'Vanaspati' or refining. The definition of 'vegetable oil' is clarified based on free fatty acid content: at least 0.2% for cottonseed oil and 0.5% for other oils. Additionally, crude palm oil and its fractions with at least 2% free fatty acid content are specified for hydrogenated vegetable oil production by manufacturers with captive hydrogen generation facilities.
