Approval exemption where prior government licence or defence contract removes need for separate regulatory clearance. The amendment provides that approval of the Reserve Bank of India is not required where Government approval or licence/permission by the concerned Ministry or regulator has already been granted, and that no separate Government reference or approval is needed for opening a defence-sector project office if the non-resident applicant has been awarded a contract by or entered into an agreement with the Ministry of Defence, Service Headquarters, or Defence Public Sector Undertakings.
