<h1>SEBI Mandates Investment Advisers to Obtain NISM Certification Under Regulation 3; Level 1 and 2 Exams Required.</h1> The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued a notification on June 19, 2013, under regulation 3 of the Certification of Associated Persons in the Securities Markets Regulations, 2007. It mandates that Investment Advisers and their associated persons, including representatives and partners, must obtain certification from the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) by passing the NISM-Series-X-A: Investment Adviser (Level 1) Certification Examination. Those already certified as NISM Certified Personal Financial Advisors are exempt until their certification expires. Additionally, they must pass the NISM-Series-X-B: Investment Adviser (Level 2) Certification Examination or an equivalent accredited certification when notified by the Board.
