of <h1>SEBI Amends Rule 2 to Include Private Placement of Debentures by Listed Companies for Listing Purposes.</h1> The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Debenture Trustee) (Amendment) Rules, 2004, amends the 1993 rules under the authority of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992. Effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, the amendment modifies clause (e) of rule 2 in the 1993 rules to include the phrase 'or any private placement of debentures made by a listed company, which are proposed to be listed' following 'a body corporate.' This change expands the scope of debenture trustee regulations to cover private placements by listed companies intended for listing.
