of <h1>Central Government Appoints New SEBI Chairman for Three-Year Term u/s 4 of SEBI Act, 1992.</h1> The Central Government appoints an individual as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for an initial term of three years, starting from the date they assume the position, or until further orders. This appointment is made under the authority of section 4 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992, and in accordance with the relevant rules governing the terms and conditions of service for SEBI's Chairman and Members. The notification is issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, Financial Markets Division, dated February 17, 2017.
