This extension is in accordance with section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961, and rule 11G of the Income Tax Rules, 1962. The committee, originally constituted in 1992, includes 14 individuals from various professional backgrounds, such as former justices, social activists, academics, and entrepreneurs. The tenure of these members, which ended on March 30, 2018, has been extended to ensure the continued functioning of the committee.
