India Raises Customs Duty on Whey Products to 40% u/s 8A(1) of Customs Tariff Act, 1975.

The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue, has issued Notification No. 43/2018 to increase the basic customs duty on certain whey products. The tariff rate for items under tariff subhead 0404 10, including whey and modified whey, and tariff item 0404 90 00, classified as other whey, will be raised from 30% to 40%. This change is enacted under section 8A(1) of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, due to the government's determination that immediate action is necessary. The amendment will be reflected in the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act.
