of <h1>Puducherry Sets 65% State Tax Rate on Motor Vehicle Leases Under GST Act, Effective Until June 2020.</h1> The Government of Puducherry, under the Puducherry Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, has issued a notification prescribing a state tax rate on the leasing of motor vehicles. The tax is set at 65% of the applicable state tax on such goods, as per a prior notification from June 2017. This rate applies to motor vehicles purchased and supplied on lease before July 1, 2017, and to suppliers who purchased vehicles before this date without availing input tax credits. The notification is effective from October 13, 2017, and is valid until June 30, 2020.
