of <h1>Goa Sets 2.5% Tax on Food Supplies for Free Distribution to Economically Weaker Sections Under GST Act 2017.</h1> The Government of Goa, following the Council's recommendations, has set a state tax rate of 2.5% on intra-State supplies of specific goods under the Goa Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. This rate applies to food preparations in unit containers intended for free distribution to economically weaker sections under approved government programs. Suppliers must provide certification from a designated government officer confirming the free distribution within five months of supply. This notification is effective from October 18, 2017, as per the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, interpretation rules.
