of <h1>Government Rescinds Customs Notifications 53/96 and 20/99 Under Section 25(1) of Customs Act 1962 Effective March 1, 2000.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has rescinded Notification Nos. 53/96-Customs dated July 23, 1996, and 20/99-Customs dated February 28, 1999. This decision, effective March 1, 2000, is deemed necessary in the public interest. The rescinded notifications, issued by the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), were previously published in the Official Gazette under G.S.R. 331(E) and G.S.R. 156(E) respectively. The notification was issued by the Joint Secretary to the Government of India.
