of <h1>India amends Central Excise rules: Updates tariff references, omits specific entries and conditions effective July 1, 2017.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 16/2017-Central Excise, amending Notification No. 23/2003-Central Excise. Effective from July 1, 2017, the amendments include substituting references to the Central Excise Tariff Act with the Fourth Schedule of the Central Excise Act, 1944. Additionally, entries numbered 3A and 5 to 21 in the table, and conditions numbered 3A and 5 to 10 in the annexure, are omitted. This notification is enacted under the authority of Section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, in the public interest.
