<h1>India Revises Service Tax Adjudication Limits: New Authority Tiers for Handling Cases u/s 83A of Finance Act.</h1> The Government of India has issued Notification No. 44/2016 to amend Notification No. 30/2005-Service Tax. This amendment, effective from September 28, 2016, revises the authority limits for adjudicating service tax or CENVAT credit cases. Superintendents can handle cases up to INR 10 lakh, Assistant or Deputy Commissioners up to INR 50 lakh, Joint or Additional Commissioners for amounts between INR 50 lakh and INR 2 crore, and Commissioners without any limit. This change is made under the powers granted by section 83A of the Finance Act, 1994.
