of <h1>India's Finance Ministry Amends Service Tax Rules on Renting Religious Precincts for Charitable or Religious Trusts.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 40/2016-Service Tax to amend Notification No. 25/2012-Service Tax. This amendment substitutes clause (a) of entry 5 in the opening paragraph. The revised clause pertains to the renting of precincts of religious places meant for the general public, owned or managed by entities registered as charitable or religious trusts under section 12AA of the Income-tax Act, 1961, or similar entities under specific sections of the Income-tax Act. This amendment is made under the authority of the Finance Act, 1994, in the public interest.
