of <h1>India Updates Customs Act: Silver Bullion & Cigarettes Now Subject to Burden of Proof in Seizures.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, issued Notification No. 103/2016 under the Customs Act, 1962, specifying silver bullion and cigarettes as additional classes of goods subject to the burden of proof provisions in cases of seizures. This notification, dated July 25, 2016, supersedes the previous notification No. 204/84 from July 1984. The notification is authorized by the powers conferred under sub-section (2) of section 123 of the Customs Act, 1962, and is signed by the Under Secretary to the Government of India.
