Amendment to Foreign Trade Policy: Status Holder Criteria Now Based on Three-Year Export Performance for Most Sectors.
The Central Government has amended Paragraph 3.20(b) of the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020, effective from April 1, 2016. The amendment changes the criteria for exporters to be recognized as status holders. Previously, status recognition required export performance during the current and previous two financial years. The new criteria extend this period to the current and previous three financial years, except for the Gems and Jewellery sector, which retains the original two-year requirement. Export performance is assessed based on the FOB value of export earnings in free foreign exchange.
