<h1>Customs Inspectors Can Approve Drawback Claims Up to Rs. 250 on Passenger Items u/s 152(d) of Customs Act 1962.</h1> Preventive Inspectors of Customs and Superintendents of Central Excise are authorized to exercise the powers of an Assistant Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner of Customs to sanction drawback claims on personal effects of passengers, provided the claim does not exceed Rs. 250. This directive, issued under section 152(d) of the Customs Act, 1962, allows these Gazetted Officers to act on behalf of the Central Board of Excise and Customs for such matters. The notification was originally issued on March 21, 1964, with a designation change noted in a subsequent notification dated May 11, 1999.
